HIDDEN FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE MOST TOURISTY STREET IN CROATIA, STRADUN, BUT NOT TOO FAR FROM IT EITHER, LIES A NICE TAVERN. SURPRISINGLY, THERE IS SERENITY HERE THAT IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH DUBROVNIK IN THE SUMMER.
A relatively large terrace, considering the dense grid of small alleys of the ancient city, with tables of modern design at the entrance announces a gastronomic strategy different from the one prevailing here. The interior space is pleasant even on sultry summer days.
The modern interior combined with rustic elements (the fish trap from the island of Mljet for instance) resembles a wine bar. (There is a small, intimate space upstairs.) Due to interior design, this space has a soul, and the same applies to the dishes – a true Soul Kitchen.
In terms of serving methods, but mostly in terms of what is on the plate, this restaurant reached out towards vegans and vegetarians, and generally towards healthy eating. Here, everything seems to be upgraded in terms of gastronomic offer. Here is one example – Shawarma with chicken comes with orange and date couscous seasoned with garlic sauce, mint, parsley, and pomegranate, all wrapped in a tortilla.
Basically, a serious turn away from the typical gastronomy of this area. On an unrelated note, in the near neighbourhood is one of the major sights of Dubrovnik – the former town granary from the 16th century, called Rupe, converted into an ethnographic museum.
TECHNICAL INSPECTION
A fascinating culinary experience with friendly staff under the magnificent walls of the old town. A recognizable place with carefully decorated delicacies by a renowned chef.
