AT THE FOOT OF THE MIGHTY BIOKOVO MOUNTAIN LIES IGRANE, A SMALL TOWN OF THE MAKARSKA RIVIERA. IT HAS A SMALL LOCAL HARBOR, AND AT ITS END, RIGHT NEXT TO THE BREAKWATER ON THE VERY WATERFRONT, IS THE TERRACE OF THIS RESTAURANT.
Naturally, this is the most attractive part of the restaurant, inseparably and literally connected to the sea and the boats gently rocking right beside the restaurant tables. The terrace, with its wooden benches, exudes much of the homely atmosphere of a konoba (traditional tavern), fitting perfectly with the character of the surroundings.
The modest interior of the restaurant is carefully and simply decorated – many details recall the fishing tradition, but also farming, especially the olive-growing heritage of the area. The venue is dominated by a bar, alongside which stands a sizable shelf with an impressive selection of wines.
The menu is predominantly focused on seafood and the local version of Mediterranean cuisine, featuring traditional regional dishes. Shrimp and mussel buzara, fried fish, or excellent homemade gnocchi with meat ragù, various styles of baked fish and octopus tentacles, as well as light summer salads with goat cheese… Along with other well-prepared dishes, this restaurant reflects classic ‘craft’ cooking with the appealing flavors of homemade cuisine.
When these kitchen delicacies are combined with professional service from a well-coordinated waitstaff, this is, in every respect, a well-tuned ‘seafood’ restaurant.
